In an earlier post, I reported that the Canadian Association of University Teachers (CAUT) had wrongly declared that Trinity Western University (TWU) violated academic freedom by drawing its faculty from among those who voluntary embrace its statement of faith. As noted in that blog post, CAUT put TWU on a list of schools it says do not respect academic freedom.
It also said that it was investigating other Christ-centered universities in Canada, including Crandall University and Canadian Mennonite University. I am unaware of any publicly released information about the status or outcome of those investigations. In any event, on June 1, Christian Higher Education Canada discussed the broader issue of academic freedom at Christ-centered colleges at its annual general meeting.
Coverage of and commentary on the matter can be found here, here, here, and here.
