The Bible teaches that government gets its authority directly from God. Yet, it often seems like government wants to replace God and expand to fill a role that only the church should fill. Government can’t be its own conscience. Government can’t minister to people. And government shouldn’t force people of faith to violate their sincerely held beliefs. Watch Pastor Chris Clark as he stands up for religious liberty at a recent rally in San Diego.

I am so gateful this man and his friends do NOT represent all Christian ministers. Wish they could hear our pastor and others like him who completely disagree with these guys trying to build their congregations (and their egos) on the back of politics.

Ned, what you are essentially saying pastors are 2nd rate citizens, to have no free speech outside of the church. He didn’t mention one thing that was outside of the Bible (taxes, welfare, immigration). He only went to the social values that are somewhat the cornerstones of Christianity (family and life). This country was set up to be church on one side and government on the other. This should not be construed as government is everything and church is nothing. They should be equals and one should check the other in a checks and balances. Atheists, agnostics, secularists, liberals do not deserve special privileges of telling the other side what to believe, live, or say. You might scream fascist, bigots, but eventually you have to look in the mirror and see what you have become… the very words you scream.

Jesus did not get involved with the politics of his day. He simply sought to turn people to God. These pastors are trying to influence policy. When they do that, they become lobbyists and politicians. End of story.
